You know what we love?

New-book smell. That unique perfume of
crisp paper, pressed ink, and possibility.

You know what else we love?

Kids. Kids are awesome. And that’s part
of the reason we’re doing what we do…

We want to enhance as many awesome little lives as we can

by getting books into kiddos’ hands at a young age.

Get this: Simply having books around during a child’s early years can be the secret to enhancing said kiddo’s future brilliance and productivity. And did you know that even a simple, super-quick exposure to reading material a kiddo enjoys can instantly increase their enthusiasm for reading?

It’s all true. Because science.

The single most significant factor influencing a child’s early educational success is an introduction to books and being read to at home prior to beginning school.

– National Commission on Reading, 1985

61% of low-income families have no books at all in their homes for their children.

– Reading Literacy in the United States: Findings from the IEA Reading Literacy Study (1996)

In middle-income neighborhoods the ratio of books per child is 13 to 1, in low-income neighborhoods, the ratio is 1 age-appropriate book for every 300 children.

– Neuman, Susan B. and David K. Dickinson, ed. Handbook of Early Literacy Research, Volume 2. New York, NY: 2006, p. 31

And the idea of getting
kids excited about
reading is HUGE for us.

It’s why we’re here.

See, our founder, Katie Griffith…

everyone wave! Hi, Katie!

…is a Wyoming educator with a huge heart for early literacy. She’s seen too many kiddos struggling in the classroom to stand idly by for another second. You know that saying,

“I always wondered why somebody doesn’t do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody”?

Our girl Katie is that somebody.
Let Kids Read is that “do something.”

How it Works

We make super-rad T-shirts.

You buy one! Or two. Or ten!

(And you look fantastic in them, may we add. That color is GREAT on you.)

One book opens a world of possibility to the kiddo who receives it. Repeat.

We partner with literacy-focused organizations. Every T-shirt sold directly benefits our partners, and the children they support.

It’s good vibes and high fives all around.
